"Believe" 2: Sea Monsters (recordings)
People have reported seeing sea monsters for centuries — should we believe them?
In these five (recorded) lessons, we’ll explore famous examples like Loch Ness’s “Nessie”, Lake Champlain’s “Champ”, and the ocean-going “Cadborosaurus”. We’ll investigate the paleontology of ancient marine reptiles, early whales, and bizarre sharks. Finally, using what we learned in “Bigfoot”, we’ll update our Bayesian priors (our assumptions) and compute our personal probabilities about sea monsters.
They’re about 90 minutes each.
These lessons will be filmed five days in a row, from Monday June 23 to Friday June 27, 2025. You’ll get the links to the recordings each evening.
Note: This is the second topic in our Believe it (or Not) summer camp series. To understand what’s going on, you’ll want to have watched “Bigfoot” before — you can purchase those recordings here.
